Hoewel het in Nederland moeilijk is voor te stellen, zijn er wereldwijd een hoop mensen die hun drugs online kopen via shady website die ver en diep verstopt zijn in het Deep Web. Want laten we eerlijk zijn, drugs hier in Nederland kopen is net zo makkelijk als een zak patat. Maar goed niet alleen in ons eigen land kopen dus steeds meer mensen drugs, maar ook in Engeland is dit fenomeen massaal uit de hand aan het lopen en daarom heeft de Telegraph er nu dit artikel over gemaakt. It’s official! More of us are buying drugs on the Internet. This week the 2014 Global Drugs Survey, which is based on a survey of almost 80,000 drugs users from 43 countries, found that a growing number get their drugs online, from “Deep Web” sites like the infamous Silk Road which was shut down by the FBI in October 2013. These sites are known as Hidden Services and are only accessible using the anonymous browser Tor, which makes it very difficult for law enforcement to track users.
Brits lead the way: over 20 per cent of drugs users here (at least, those who filled in the survey) have bought drugs online. But it’s not only drugs that can be bought there. Counterfeit money, fake gift vouchers and iTunes music are there. One user of Silk Road 2.0 – one of the many successor sites to the original Silk Road – has conducted some very clever research by reviewing 15,000 sales that were made in early 2014 on the Silk Road 2.0. These were presented on the specialist website DeepDotWeb. According to that research (which cannot be easily verified now, unfortunately) the product with the most feedback was a type of ecstasy. In second place? No, not cocaine or MDMA. It’s fake £100 Tesco vouchers, which were going for around $60 US. The mark-up isn’t that much, and the feedback average on over 400 sales was 4.9/5, which suggests they really do work.
